May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of our Lord Jesus Christ!
As I consider the spiritual needs of Los Angeles, I am reminded of Nehemiah and the re-building of Jerusalem. Do you remember how Nehemiah secured the authority he needed from King Artaxerxes? Do you recall how the wall was divided among different builders and how they all cooperated together? Do you recall the resistance they met and how their efforts were ridiculed? And do you remember how, once the wall was complete, all the people gathered as one man in front of the Water Gate and asked Ezra to read from the book of Moses?
As I look forward into the coming year, I sense that the story of Nehemiah serves to direct our prayers in this particular season. Let us pray . . .
That the residents of Los Angeles will be overcome by a sense of our spiritual brokenness, and that there will be an overwhelming desire to rebuild the spiritual walls of this city;
That our Lord will grant His children favor as we move to restore the brokenness in our midst;
That there will be a "oneness" amongst our spiritual leaders . . . a common vision shared by all.
That our shepherds and leaders (and their families) will be protected from the Enemy's plans to destroy.
And maybe most of all . . . that a hunger will fall upon the people . . . a hunger that will only be satisfied by hearing God's truth.
May His Kingdom come; His will be done.
As always . . . thank you for praying.
Yours because the tomb is empty,
Lyle Randles, Director of Prayer Ministry
